Bliro transcribes the audio directly from your microphone and speaker. Setting up the audio devices correctly is crucial to make sure that the whole conversation is transcribed and the summary will contain all relevant information.
Windows
Quickstart
Always keep "I use headphones" option ON. Even If you don't use headphones. Not sure which microphone and speaker device to choose? Just check the microphone and speaker device that is being used in your primary app. You use the Jabra Headset in Microsoft Teams? Then also select the Jabra Headset in Bliro.
"I use headphones"
The "I use headphones" option controls whether Bliro transcribes microphone audio only (OFF) or microphone and speaker audio (ON).
When no headphone is being used you head audio via your loud speakers and others in the room can head the audio too. So can the microphone also hear the audio from your speakers.
As the microphone can hear the speaker audio, we don't need to transcribe speaker audio separately. It's enough to transcribe microphone audio because it captures both sides of the conversation - what you are saying as well as what the other meeting participants are saying.
Modern computers however often come with in-built echo cancellation features. In these cases, the microphone cannot hear the loud speakers anymore as this audio is recognized as echo. In this case, microphone only transcribes what you are saying but not what others are saying. This is the reason why, in the Quickstart we recommend to keep "I use headphoes" always ON.
Only if you recognize, that the the transcription quality is very bad - so if there are many mistakes in the transcript - then you should consider turning "I use headphones" to OFF. Once "I use headphones" is turned OFF, the echo will be gone and transcription quality will be great again!
Microphone and Speaker Settings
Setting the correct microphone and speaker device is relatively simple. You just need to choose the same microphone and speaker devices as the primary tool that you use for your meetings.
For instance: If you use Aircall for your meetings, go to the Audio Settings in Aircall and find out which microphone and speaker devices are set there. No choose the same devices in Bliro. It will work.
MacOS
Quickstart
Always keep "I use headphones" option ON. Even If you don't use headphones. As microphone of your choice, just use the "Default - " microphone. It will synchronize with the system microphone and just work.
"I use headphones"
The "I use headphones" option works similarly as in Windows (described above). On most MacOS devices, just turning on "I use headphones" will be sufficient to transcribe what you as well as what others say in the meeting.
Only in case of insufficient transcription quality, if you are using loud speakers, "I use headphones" option should be turned OFF.
Microphone and Speaker Settings
On MacOS, the speaker audio device is not needed to be set. Bliro will transcribe speaker audio automatically - if "I use headphones" is ON - no matter which speaker device is being used.
For microphone, it is recommended to choose the "Default - " option in the microphone selector. The default option will always be in sync with the system microphone. In most cases, this is also what your primary meeting tool is using.
Only in case, that your part of the conversation is missing in the transcript, you will need to make sure that the microphone that is used with Bliro and the microphone that is used in your primary meeting solution are the same. In this case, it is recommended to choose "Same as system" option in your primary meeting tool. This allows you to centrally manage the active microphone.
